Team Training

Exercise is always  more fun when you do it in a group. Think back to when you were playing team sports and how much more enjoyable exercise was when  you were  sharing your experience with others!

In the past,  the main form of group exercise was dance based aerobics which most of us struggled to do. We now have our 30 minute group exercise classes, but at  Oceana we have recently launched a new program that does not require any skill or ability to follow the “moves”.  

Team Training is a 1 hour fully surprised exercise session where one of our trainers  will work with you using mainly functional exercises to help you learn correct technique but also how to train to get results. Unfortunately most people just  give up after only a few months  because they just don’t get results. This is usually due to the fact that most people need a lot more support than they traditionally get at a health club. If you are new to exercise there is a lot to learn. Target heart rates, strength training technique, stretching , exercise progression and trying to watch what you eat is a lot of at times technical information to remember.

So our focus has now shifted to spending time  actually taking you through your actual routine rather than just showing you how to use the gear and then just leaving you to your own devices. Our Team Training sessions  are aimed at showing you exactly what to do and actually taking you through it.

By working in a small group you also get to meet other members and encourage each other to get the most out of each session.

Team training sessions are aimed at filling the gap between working on your own ( where 90% of people struggle along with  no real results)  and  doing Personal Training. For as little as $4 a session you can make sure you have a trainer work with you each and every time you exercise. 

Functional Training - the best fat burning exercise !

Our Team training sessions are performed doing functional exercises that burn more energy than traditional pin loaded isolation strength exercises like  a chest press or lat pull down. They also improve your ability to daily tasks  as they  help you to get better at squatting, reaching, standing, pushing and pulling as you would in daily tasks  at  home and work.

We have made modifications to our upstairs cardio area to create a functional training zone. This area has open space for lunging, hopping and bench stepping and hanging points for rings, chin ups and even stretching. We have also added some extra kettle bells and  dumb bells and more gear is on the way.

While we have been guilty in the past of offering the same old programs  using mainly pin loaded exercise, we now focus on giving you functional exercises where you can combine both cardio and strength exercise in the one workout. The best news is that by working the whole body you burn significantly more energy during and after the workout which  keeps your metabolism ticking over which is essential to fat loss.
