Casual Visits Welcome !
You do not have to commit to a long term membership at Oceana. You can pay as you go. While membership is better value if you are going to attend at least twice a week, there is always the option of paying for a single visit or buying a 10 pack of visits.
We do not allow anyone to use the gym and cardio theatre without having some form of instruction. Only those who have had experience in a gym environment and who know how to use standard strength training equipment are allowed to have a casual visit to that area. If, however, you want to learn how to use this equipment so that you can attend casually, you can have a trainer take you through the gym and show you a basic workout and how to use our gear. This must be booked in advance.
There is no restriction on casual visits for use of the pool area or group fitness sessions, except that members will always get priority for lane space in the pool and in all classes that have limited numbers. Please call in advance if you have any questions.
We have a range of single visit and 10-pack options to allow you to do the following.
Casual swim – 25-metre main pool only
Full casual swim – includes main and hydrotherapy pool, and steam room. (Please note that swimming caps are compulsory in all pools when lap swimming.)
Water aerobics – participants do not have to wear a cap as they do most of the session with their head out of the water. See timetable
Group fitness session – sessions including revolution (indoor cycling), boxing, outdoor (modified bootcamp) walking, circuit, swimming, hydro. From $9 a session, or FREE for members.
Full – access to all facilities for one visit. You can do a class and finish off with a gym session and swim.
Boot Camp – this is our one-off boot camp class. You don’t have to be a member.
You can stay as long as you like on a swim, or full casual visit.
Many people find that while they may have other regular commitments at different times of the year, they can come in for a regular class or casual swim to complement their training.
Concession
We have a discount for full-time students and for Seniors Card holders. This varies depending on the type of casual visit.
Medical clearance
Anyone over 45 years old who has an existing medical condition or who has not exercised for 12 months or more is advised to seek medical clearance before starting an exercise program. It is your responsibility to make sure you are cleared to exercise. We will ask you to acknowledge that you have done this by signing a register when you visit.
Trainer instruction
That is the difference with membership where your fees cover the instruction that you need to design a safe and effective exercise program. Don’t expect that coming in every now and then will fix a few years of inactivity. For exercise to be effective, it needs to be specific to your current physical and medical status and you must do it regularly.
