Private lessons available

Oceana Health & Fitness is the largest provider of Learn to Swim and Water Orientation programs in Tasmania.

Our facility was built to accommodate our learn to swim program with an even 0.9 metre depth for most of the pool and a deep end of 1.5 metres. This allows us to have beginners in the shallow end and more advanced children doing some deeper water training at the same time.

The main pool is 25 metres long and our water temperature is 29 degrees in Winter and 28 degrees in summer. Oceana Health & Fitness is also a provider of the Tasmanian Education Department Water Safety and Learn to Swim program which means that most of our teachers are full time professional teachers.

We are also accredited with the Royal Life Saving Society of Australia Swim & Survive and Austwim and we are a Swimming Australia accredited provider.

Learn to Swim Program Structure

We have 6 levels in our LTS program from beginner to our Junior Training Squad. Your child will receive a certificate as they reach certain skill levels and improve their swimming ability and technique.

Children 5 Years and Over – School Term Lessons times are  Monday to Friday at 3.30, 4.00 and 4.30pm and Saturday morning at 9:00, 9:30, 10.00, 10.30 and 11.00am.

Maximum group size of 8 children

Children are grouped according to ability with a number of groups operating at one time. This allows for movement from one group to the next as improvement occurs, without having to change times.

There are separate changing rooms for adults and children.

The average cost per lesson is $9. Discounts apply if you book for the full term.

Private lessons are also available for accelerated results

School Holiday Programs – Each school holiday period we offer intensive 5 day programs that are 40 minute lessons. These longer and consecutive lessons will lead to greater swimming improvements in most children. These programs are held on weekday mornings starting at 9.00, 9.45 and 10.30 am.

Junior Squad Sessions are held Monday Wednesday & Friday at 3.45 to 4.30 pm

Our Junior Squad is where swimming technique can be refined and participants will be introduced to competition skills like starts, tumble turns, and the type of training they will need to do if they want to get into competitive swimming.

Payments – Lessons are sold in a minimum of 10 pack, or 12 pack to cover a full school term.
