The reality is that most people give up, usually within the first 6 weeks, and we know why !
We have been around for 17 years now and in that time we did some things well and we have learnt some lessons. The biggest lesson is that just because everyone else does something a particular way does not make it the “best” way to do things. That’s why we have changed our whole way of doing things to make sure we deliver.
New Exercises – the latest and best !
While we still have all the same equipment you see in most gyms, our focus is no longer on boring machines that only work one muscle at a time. Pin loaded exercises that involve you sitting while pushing a weight do not engage your core and they do not help you to do task of daily living. This type of single muscle workout is what body builders do and who wants to be a body builder ? We want you to get fitter and healthier to get through daily tasks and to live longer so that is why we focus on full body functional exercise.
You need a coach and you need accountability !
That is what our unique programs deliver. Most health clubs only offer access to equipment once you are given a brief overview, but we have a range of membership options that guide you through the sometimes daunting early stages. Our fully supervised membership options start at just over $15 per week for seniors ( with a 30% discount)
We book you in for appointments and if you don’t show we call you up and make sure you do come next time. It’s just like having you own coach and like athletes, you need someone to guide ans support you.
To us, fitness is about being on your feet, moving in multiple directions, getting stronger in your core, and exercising by replicating many of the activities you encounter in real life. Exercising in this way along with a healthy nutritious diet will help ensure fitness and performance well into your adult life!
At Oceana, we know that if we simply do what most clubs do and just give you a little instruction at the beginning and then leave you to come in and follow a program on your own, you will be gone within 30 to 60 days. We know, because that’s what we used to do.
Think how many times you have started a “health kick” in the past, what about that “abs trainer ” that is sitting in the garage? The reality is if it was easy to do it on your own, you already would be.
So that’s why we now do things differently at Oceana. We want to be the best club producing the best outcomes and that means that we will not be the cheapest. We will never compromise on our service or safety issues to members to match a price, there are some out their that do that, but we wont !
